Pace Up is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and offers specialized consultancy and training solutions to clients in Oil & Gas, petrochemical and process sectors of industry.
Their core capabilities lie in the following categories:
- Exploration & Production
- Downstream & Midstream
- Operations & Maintenance
- Project Management
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management and Emergency Response
- Risk Management and Incident Investigation
- Formal Safety Assessments
- Process Safety
Their HSE and Emergency Response support are both at the systems level and skills-based. They offer consulting and training support for the development and implementation of HSE management systems or specific elements thereof such as risk assessment, policy and procedure development, creating awareness among employees at all levels and auditing. Skills and competency-based development and training include those for working at height, rigging and slinging and confined space entry. Their Emergency Response support includes the development of Incident Command Systems and support on emergency drills based on realistic scenarios.
In terms of Risk Management, their consultants are deeply indoctrinated in the Hazards and Effects Management Process (HEMP), a conceptual basis for defining and analyzing risks, and then deciding on the appropriate course(s) of action in order to minimize these risks, whilst still achieving business goals. Whilst HEMP involves applying different risk assessment techniques for different circumstances, the Bowtie lies at its very foundation. “Deciding on the appropriate course(s) of action in order to minimize these risks” calls for BARRIER MANAGEMENT. They use the BowtieXP for the purpose of analyzing and managing hazards/risks to better detail.
The antithesis of Risk Management is, of course, Incident Investigation. Where one forecasts undesirable events, the other traces back the steps in forecasting these events and identifying and analyzing what went wrong and when and where. In this, they use state-of-the-art techniques such as Tripod Beta or BSCAT to identify the root causes of barrier failure. They use the IncidentXP for this purpose.
The variants of the BowTieXP, the IncidentXP and other software solutions, complete with support services are available from Pace Up as a partner of CGE Risk Management Solutions.
Our long-term partner has committed to participate in the CGE partner certification process (launched 2020) and has already been successfully awarded the first badge in the series.
