Safetec holds BowTie courses in qualitative risk and barrier analysis. In the course, you will become familiar with the method for performing qualitative risk analysis using the loop method (BowTie) and the use of associated software tools (BowTieXP) from CGE Risk Management Solutions.

Identifying measures to prevent adverse events from occurring and the measures available to mitigate the consequences of an undesirable event are useful in all areas where there is a need to obtain an overview, assess the goodness of the measures and identify any deficiencies. Using BowTie analysis, one can map and document which measures (barriers) are present, uncover deficiencies and communicate this internally or externally.

Drilling rig operators use BowTie in mapping barriers to the rig’s Safety Case, which describes the drilling rig’s safety management system. Drilling rigs Safety Case is used when applying to the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to obtain consent (AoC) to operate on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Target group: Relevant for anyone involved in security work, qualitative risk analysis or who wish to use the tool for mapping the status of the barrier by means of surveys.
