Leadership in Health & Safety

The basis of risk management is human behavior: what drives people, how do they behave in a certain context, how do they react to systems and changing circumstances and why do they make mistakes? We believe qualitative risk assessment, using the best methodologies and practices, is the only way to lay a good foundation for a safety management system.

We aim to equip our partners and clients with the right knowledge and concepts of what the context of risk and safety is, such as human behavior. In our Master Class program, a workshop on leadership and safety culture has been included. This workshop is based on the ‘Leadership in Health and Safety’ program which is developed by Saipem and has been successfully rolled out over the last 4 years. The workshop is designed to engage with operative managers and senior workforce personnel, using the multi-award winning media tool called ‘The Safer, The Better’:

  • Creating a personal link to safety
  • Understanding how leadership impacts safety performance
  • Discovering the fundamental difference between a leader, and a safety leader
  • Safety leadership tools, skills and personal development
  • Specific actions, attitudes and behaviors which combine to create a great safety leader
  • A people based approach to intervention and recognition
  • Facilitating a personal commitment to safety leadership
